trippin

a really nicely mixed track, each sound is perfectly weighted so theres always the right amount going on. cool minimal beat, goes really well and the vocal samples give the right feel. the glitches really add to the track too. Sounds like it would have been fun to make. dont stop

dj-padman1 responds:

Thanks mate, glad to hear from you. Maybe the voice having an American accent is a bit much, I think a sassy UK teen would be better!
I hope to hear some of your tracks bouncing around NG soon.

My brain gets it

Nice rhythms man, and the changing around of drum kits is really effective, or maybe it was just the snare. More potential again.

GangsterRapper responds:

This tune sounds shit. I just added it to Newgrounds portal as I was trying to give something different. I know a few of the lines in this could be fucked around with, add given maybe two weeks fucking around and adding stuff I could turn this into a nice little number( How cheesey did that sound)

drugs are bad

I love the bass and the hi end rim taps and hats. Thats really original and the kind of stuff I look for all the time. The whole thing is nicely mastered and kind of funky but the spoken sample contrasts it well. Some of your stuff is really underrated, or just undiscovered. Im into it anyways, keep em coming.

GangsterRapper responds:

Thanks. The Spoken sample I heard on a radio add. I took (stole?) it and made the rest by writing it on pieces off paper. I then used lots of other random noises and just came up with this piece. Experimental is my what I enjoy the most. I can make all sorts off noises and put them all together.

"More Effects" they said

Thats a really cool sounding song and I reckon would be well worth working on a bit more. The effects you use are original and you should go nuts with them. And the plucked sort of line you use through the last half could be elaborated with more instruments. Heaps of potential

GangsterRapper responds:

Fucking hell! I hate this song lol. I was going thru a D&B stage. The song just sounds so simple. I guess it does have potential, but I can't be arsed with it.

Nice one brother

the fact that this has 19 dls and no reviews makes me lose the little faith i had in the taste of newgrounders. I dont know how much of this you sampled and how much you put together yourself but it sounds really smooth. Nice subtle drums and bass and tight scratching and sampling. I should suggest to everyone on newgrounds that wants to make breaks to take over the brit pop genre or something so we can at least find each other.

GangsterRapper responds:

Ummm, the beat is all my own. It started off as a Stanton Warriors sort of 2 step 4x4 beat. The more I added to it the more it sounded oldskool. So I took some retro 80's noises (from a sample C.D) and tweaked them. I then just threw in a few scratches and went on from there.

Love it

Awesome stuff man. I had to hear the drums drop in five times to appreciate it fully. The sounds complemented each other nicely, including the vocals.
One thing ive been thinking of lately is using one intrument or sound for each frequency, and kind of resticting it using an equaliser. That way i find i can put more sounds in without it sounding too confusing.
Awesome drums, did u chop up a loop here or are they put together separately?
Now to check out your others.
Nice one man

dj-padman1 responds:

Thankyou Mr Kaisun, I always like it when you drop in to my little music hut.

Equalisers? Man, I have a hard enough time figuring out which way to push the faders. Really important, I grant you that. Giving each room space, really makes a difference.
The loop is a chopped up amen, its the ORIGINAL amen, I was happy as a clam when I found it. :P
I think I repeated the vocals a bit too much in the second half. Probably should have just drummed and bassed it out for the remainder.
Well, I look forward to your future productions.

Its a chaotic world

Hey man, deadly breaks track. The very beginning sounds a little like Aphexs remix on 26 mixes. I love the drum programming and the open hats and cymbals, gives a intense feel to the song.
The glitch roll at the end of a bar about half way through is great, a much more purposeful and effective use of beat repeat.
Id like to hear more structure, cause the sounds are good but it sound like each of them are kind of ad libbing over each other sometimes.
Finally got something up on breakbeat paradise, is yours nearly done? one week to go.
take it easy

dj-padman1 responds:

I know you're a real breaks man, so I'm pleased to hear that my stutters and glitches were tighter in this track, which is what I was trying hard to do. Interesting comments about the structure, it is a bit manic, but isn't that what I'm all about? :) Point taken though. I'll try and tighten the screws in future.
I've really got to focus on breakbeat paradise. Crunchtime is upon us!!!
Cya later. :P

maestro

hey padman good to see some new stuff here. dont bother with the study, it wont teach you life skills, thats where newgrounds comes in. Grammer, spelling, wit, newgrounds has it all.
I like this one most out of your new three. i dont think it sounded cheesy, not compared to the rest of the stuff on here.
i have to mention the snare roll used with the in between counts, im not sure what u call that, its 16T/4 tiiming in reason instead of 16/4 but ive never used it, youve enlightened me.
Listening to it again its far from cheesy. Cheesy is too broad, wham! is cheesy, video game music is cheesy, this is more epic trance.
I like the last bar in the fading riff, even though u cant fully make out the notes cause theyre a bit fast its a good scale, its a great riff. good stuff, might have some stuff up soon too.
cya

dj-padman1 responds:

Lol, Newgrounds truly is a second home to me. My brothers and sisters here certainly enjoy sticking me with zero votes though!
I did switch things up in the snare-roll. Thanks for noticing! In the Live universe, they're called 12th notes, and the really short ones are 24th notes. You could use them in your breakbeats, no-one does much, so it would rock.
By the way, I just got your email today in my yahoo account. I don't go there at all any more, so my apologies for not replying sooner.
I look forward to your new work! Submit audio! Submit audio!

Its all good

Ive said it before,I think if breakbeathad a genre people would rate this stuff higher. What is the difference between dance and techno anyway?
U should be proud of this track, its got a good flow to it. i likey

TheComet responds:

actually dance and techno have a MASSIVE and pretty obvious difference :P
but yeah there should be a breakbeat category.

I'm not too proud of this since I really didn't do mmuch with the drums, I use that pattern WAY too much and it sounds a little commercial

YEEEAAp

Awesome stuff, teach me your little trick?

TheComet responds:

soft clipper on the master FX channel. does wonders
